Shining in 2023, Setting Sail in 2024: The Group Holds the 2023 Work Summary and Commendation Conference

On December 31, 2023, the Guangtong Group’s 2023 Work Summary and Commendation Conference was held at the Jiangjun Mountain Villa Hotel in Qingzhou City, with the participation of more than 130 on-duty employees based in Shandong Province. The one-day conference featured the following agenda: in the morning, collective recitation of the “Guangtong Culture,” a video presentation, awards and recognition, a briefing on the achievement of annual performance targets, and a work summary report; in the afternoon, speeches by award-winning model representatives and representatives from key business units, followed by New Year greetings; and in the evening, the annual gala dinner.

At 8:30 a.m., the conference commenced with the entire assembly singing the National Anthem and collectively reciting the “Guangtong Mission, Core Values, Guangtong Breeding Spirit, Guangtong Politics, New Guangtong Essence, and Guangtong Oath”! To begin, attendees watched an inspiring and uplifting short video titled “Shining 2023, Setting Sail for 2024.” Subsequently, Ju Jiewen, Gu Ailei, and Chang Wenyong respectively read out the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Gold Medal Breeding Employees’ and ‘Seed Production Experts,’” the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Outstanding Teams’ and the ‘Special Award for Rearing Artificial-Feed Varieties,’” the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Top Three Sales Performers,’” the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Innovation and Progress Award,’” the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Outstanding Communist Party Members,’” and the “Decision on Commending the 2023 ‘Guangtong Model of Civilization.’” Liang Haigang, Fang Dewen, Yan Gengdong, Huang Haiye, and Xu Shanting then presented trophies, certificates, and cash awards to the honored employees. Following this, Li Zhihai, Manager of the Finance Department, provided a briefing on the Group’s performance in achieving its 2023 production and business targets.

Lian Hai just delivered a 2023 work summary report titled “Upholding Fundamental Principles while Pursuing Innovation, Shouldering Our Mission, Carrying Forward the Past and Ushering in a New Journey,” which provides a comprehensive review of the Group’s performance in production, operations, and management throughout 2023, sets forth the objectives for 2024, and outlines the guiding principles and specific measures for the year ahead. The three key tasks are: producing and selling 2 million sheets of silkworm eggs; comprehensively accelerating the implementation of the artificial-feed project to achieve large-scale, factory-based production; and advancing these initiatives. The guiding principles are as follows: First, the guiding philosophy: guided by the Inamori Management Philosophy, upholding the Guangtong breeding spirit, remaining customer-centric and employee-first, strengthening departmental performance evaluations, embracing the principle that every employee is an entrepreneur, focusing on the principal contradictions and their primary aspects in light of the three key tasks, resolving difficulties and problems, and building a new Guangtong economy. Second, the eight core principles: based on the need for high-quality development in the sericulture, mulberry cultivation, cocoon, and silk industry, maintaining confidence and self-reliance while highlighting Guangtong’s distinctive strengths; adhering to the implementation of Guangtong’s “+” strategy to establish both internal and external development platforms, embracing the industry, and jointly building an open, inclusive, and shared new Guangtong; prioritizing science-and-technology innovation to accelerate the construction of factory bases for artificial-feed silkworm rearing and scale up production, speeding up the automation and upgrading of post-seed-production processes, equipment, and workflows, and hastening the substitution of human labor with machinery; deepening internal institutional reform, adjusting the profit-distribution mechanism, refining distribution methods, and tilting resources toward those who strive and contribute; building a digital-management system to bring dormant data to life; steadfastly pursuing outward expansion, encouraging eligible employees to start their own businesses and develop outside the company; unwaveringly upholding the principle of quality first—achieving effective quality improvements while ensuring reasonable quantitative growth; and continuously strengthening institutional development to ensure that systems are rational, lawful, and compliant, reinforcing disciplinary oversight, and managing people and affairs in strict accordance with rules and regulations. The specific measures include: first, adopting a long-term, strategic vision and accelerating the establishment of a new development paradigm; second, staying grounded and ensuring steady improvement in seed-cocoon quality, producing superior cocoons to yield superior seeds; third, stepping up to the plate and driving overall improvement in operational performance; fourth, persisting in internal institutional reform to invigorate team dynamics; and fifth, reading classic works, acquiring technical expertise, leveraging cultural leadership, providing professional empowerment, and sparking a new wave of widespread reading and learning.

At 2:30 p.m., the meeting resumed. Representatives of the award-winning employees and representatives of the key business segments delivered speeches. First, the award-winning employee representatives expressed their gratitude for the company’s prestigious recognition, pledging to continuously motivate themselves in 2024 to perform all tasks diligently and meticulously. They also provided a detailed report on the measures they have implemented in their respective areas of responsibility. Subsequently, Guai Lelei, Xu Shanting, Lu Tian, Song Shujing, and Sun Tingju—representing the major business segments—shared their insights on “how to get things done.” In the face of the three formidable challenges ahead in 2024, they emphasized that, as they stand at a new starting point and strive for ambitious goals, they must courageously shoulder their mission, remain down-to-earth, pursue innovative development, create new momentum, and resolutely achieve all assigned objectives.

Fang Dewen delivered a New Year address titled “Spring in the Northern Lands.” His passionate and enthusiastic remarks framed the Group’s three key objectives for silkworm seed production and operations in 2024 as three seeds of hope planted in the hearts of all Guangtong employees. Under the diligent care and nurturing of their hard work, these seeds will surely take root, sprout, and grow into towering trees that reach for the sky. His address reinforced the unwavering determination of Guangtong employees to succeed in every endeavor and bolstered their confidence in tackling ambitious goals—truly, a spring of hope has arrived at Guangtong! The meeting concluded with everyone joining together in a rousing rendition of “We Are Marching on the Great Road.”

At 6:00 p.m., the annual gala dinner officially commenced. The company thoughtfully presented each employee with a “Fu Dragon Baby” figurine, symbolizing happiness and good fortune. The evening featured a diverse array of performances as well as an exhilarating raffle. Amidst clinking glasses and a joyful, harmonious atmosphere, everyone opened their hearts and deepened their connections, allowing the Guangtong family—after a busy year—to relax both body and mind and savor moments of genuine joy. The gala concluded on a high note with all attendees joining together in a heartfelt rendition of “Unforgettable Tonight.”

In 2023, despite numerous difficulties and obstacles, the Guangtong team fearlessly pressed forward with courage and determination. In 2024, as we embrace both opportunities and challenges, we will unite as one, forge ahead with unwavering resolve, and achieve even greater successes. We are confident that, under the wise leadership of the Group, fueled by boundless enthusiasm and vigorous energy, the Guangtong team will march in unison along the path to victory and surely usher in a brighter future for Guangtong!
