Delegation from the Indian Silk Association Visits and Inspects Guangtong Group

On May 22–23, an eight-member delegation from the Indian Silk Association, led by Dr. S.B. Dandin, former Vice-Chancellor of Bagalkot Horticultural University and former Director of the Central Silk Board, paid a visit to Guangtong Group for an inspection and study tour. The delegation was accompanied by Fang Dewen, Xu Shanting, Lü Peng, Guo Jiaxu, and other representatives of the Group.

On May 22, a delegation from the Indian Silk Association visited, in succession, the Guangtong Baoye chlorophyll production workshop, the mechanized workshop at the company’s headquarters base, the original seed production base, the artificial-feed silkworm-rearing workshop, the group’s silkworm-egg cold-storage facility, and the quality-inspection center, conducting on-site inspections of the entire production process—including silkworm-cast chlorophyll production, mechanization of seed-production operations, original-seed production, artificial-feed silkworm rearing, refrigerated acid treatment of silkworm eggs, and silkworm-egg quality inspection.

On the morning of May 23, the two sides held a symposium and exchange in the Group’s second-floor conference room. First, each side introduced the members attending the meeting; next, they watched a corporate profile video of Guangtong Group; then the head of the Indian delegation provided an overview of the Indian Silk Association’s activities, national sericulture production and operations, silk exports, scientific and technological research and development, cocoon production, and raw silk production; finally, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on such matters as silkworm seed production, silkworm seed exports, the chlorophyll project, production equipment, trimmed-cocoon processing, and the construction of silkworm seed farms, reaching a preliminary agreement on the next steps for deepening cooperation. Dr. S.B. Dandin, head of the Indian Silk Association delegation, expressed his gratitude to Guangtong Group for its warm hospitality and thorough exchanges, highly commended Guangtong’s achievements in silkworm seed production, technology, and market development, and extended an invitation to Guangtong Group to visit India for on-site inspections and fact-finding missions, with a view to implementing the consensus reached by both sides, further strengthening cooperative exchanges, and jointly promoting the healthy development of their respective undertakings.

On the afternoon of May 23, a delegation from the Indian Silk Association, accompanied by Fang Dewen and Xu Shanting, jointly visited Dongtai City in Jiangsu Province to inspect sericulture production.
