On November 17, amid the crisp, frosty air of midwinter and the waning days of autumn, the Guangtong Group’s 2024 team-building event for young employees kicked off at the foot of the ethereal Yunmen Mountain, accompanied by warm greetings. Activities such as hiking to take in the panoramic views, roundtable discussions and social gatherings, and fun team-building games once again brought together more than 60 young employees from the group’s provincial divisions, forging closer bonds among them.

On the afternoon of October 24, 2024, the Shandong Province Training Workshop on Efficient and Green Sericulture Production Technologies and the Symposium on High-Quality Development of the Sericulture Industry were held in Qingzhou City. More than 60 participants attended, including post experts from the national and provincial sericulture technology systems, heads and technical personnel from sericulture production management and technology extension agencies at the city and county levels, leaders of key sericulture enterprises and cooperatives across the province, as well as relevant specialists. The meeting was chaired by Zhao Ruixue, Section Chief of Division Two at the Provincial Agricultural Technology Extension Center. Gao Wensheng, Director of Division Two for Crops at the Provincial Agricultural Technology Extension Center, and Liu Jiansheng, Deputy Director of the Weifang Municipal Agricultural Technology Extension Center, delivered welcoming remarks, while Lian Haigang, Chairman of the Shandong Guangtong Silkworm Seed Group, gave a keynote address. Liu Jiping, a post scientist in the National Sericulture Technology System and professor at South China Agricultural University, presented on “Green Control of Sericultural Pests and Diseases”; Wang Yongqiang, a post scientist in the National Sericulture Technology System and Director of the Zhejiang Sericulture Research Institute, lectured on “Breeding and Application of New Domestic Silkworm Varieties”; Qian Heying, Professor at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, and Zhang Yesun, Associate Professor at the same institution—both post experts in the National Sericulture System; Zhou Wenlin, Researcher at the Sericulture Research Institute of the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences—also a post expert in the National Sericulture System; Nie Lei, Associate Researcher and Deputy Chief of the Shandong Provincial Sericulture Post Expert System; and Professors Gao Huiju and Yan Yinfa from Shandong Agricultural University each shared insights on practical domestic silkworm varieties, disease-prevention technologies, breeding of artificial-feed varieties, industrial-scale sericulture, R&D of mulberry–silkworm production machinery and equipment, and wild-silkworm breeding techniques. Finally, Section Chief Zhao Ruixue summarized the afternoon’s training and exchange activities and outlined arrangements for the on-site visit scheduled for the morning of October 25.

On the afternoon of September 12, Peng Jiang, Chairman of Sichuan New Silk Road Cocoon & Silk Co., Ltd., along with General Manager Ye Jiabin and Technical Director Tian Yongping, paid a visit to Guangtong for inspection and exchange. They were accompanied by Fang Dewen, Huang Haiye, and Chang Wenyong from the Group Company. The delegation first toured the artificial-feed silkworm-rearing workshop to examine the cultivation practices for different artificial-feed varieties, their varietal characteristics, and the mechanized equipment used in feed processing. Subsequently, they convened a symposium in the second-floor conference room, where Fang Dewen of the Group Company provided an overview of Guangtong’s recent sericultural seed production and business operations, as well as its future development directions.

In accordance with the “Notice on Effectively Strengthening the Management and Use of the 2023 Special Funds for Cocoon and Silk and Promoting High-Quality Development of the Industry” issued by the National Cocoon and Silk Office, and upon the commission of the National Cocoon and Silk Coordination Office, on the afternoon of September 4, a delegation of nine members—including Qian Youqing, Supervisor of the China Silk Association; Yang Aiping, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Silk Association; Gao Yajun, Special Vice President of the Shandong Silk Association; Zhang Chaowu, Vice President of the Jiangsu Silk Association; Xu Jin, Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Sericulture Society; Fan Tao, Chairman of the Anhui Sericulture Society; Zhang Ying, Executive Vice Chairman of the Anhui Sericulture Society; Wang Xiaoming, Financial Manager of Jiangsu Soho International Group Co., Ltd.; and Zhao Ying, Liaison Officer of the China Silk Association—visited Guangtong Group, accompanied by Jiang Hao, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, to conduct a special survey on the implementation of the Ministry of Commerce’s 2023 Special Fund Project for Cocoon and Silk. Fang Dewen, Chang Wenyong, Xu Shanting, Li Zhihai, and Li Haihui from the Group also attended the survey.
