The 2019 National Supervisory Sampling Inspection Summary Meeting on Mulberry Silkworm Seed Quality Was Held in Qingzhou.

　　On the morning of January 3, the 2019 National Quality Supervision and Spot-Check Summary Meeting for Mulberry Silkworm Seed was held in Qingzhou City. Leaders and seed-quality inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs’ Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Centers in Zhenjiang, Chengdu, and Yantai, as well as from the 13 major mulberry silkworm-producing provinces—Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Shaanxi—attended the meeting. Feng Guodong, Chairman of Shandong Guangtong Silkworm Seed Group, and Fang Dewen, Deputy General Manager, were specially invited to attend and provide guidance.

　　Director Liu Li of the Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Zhenjiang) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs outlined the center’s activities since its establishment, which have effectively promoted the steady improvement of silkworm seed quality nationwide. Director Wang Zhigang of the Fruit and Tea Station of the Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs provided an overview of the sericulture industry in Shandong Province and outlined the administrative measures planned for the future development of sericulture and the revitalization of the silk industry in the province. Deputy General Manager Fang Dewen of Shandong Guangtong Silkworm Seed Group presented the group’s basic operations in silkworm seed production, highlighted the work undertaken in 2019 in areas such as new-variety breeding, quality management, and technological innovation, and offered valuable opinions and recommendations on the inspection methods and equipment currently in use. Subsequently, representatives from the 13 major producing provinces each reported on their 2019 mulberry–silkworm production and silkworm seed production, as well as the challenges encountered, the corresponding countermeasures, and their policy recommendations.

　　The delegates attending the meeting conducted on-site sampling of Guangtong Group’s overwintering silkworm eggs stored in the warehouse and visited Guangtong Group’s silkworm egg production base, its silkworm egg cold storage facility, and the Shandong Provincial Lu Si Silkworm Egg Quality Inspection Institute.
