National Training Workshop on New Silkworm Varieties, New Technologies, New Equipment, and New Achievements Held in Nanchong

From April 13 to 16, 2021, the “National Training Course on New Silkworm Varieties, New Technologies, New Equipment, and New Achievements in Silkworm Seed Production,” hosted by the Silkworm Seed Section of the Chinese Sericultural Society and co-organized by the Sichuan Provincial Sericultural Research Institute, was held in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. Attending the opening ceremony and delivering remarks were Yang Yuanping, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Sericultural Administration Station; Zhang Youhong, Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Sericultural Research Institute; Feng Guodong, Chairman of Shandong Guangtong Silkworm Seed Group, the affiliated organization; and Zhao Yi, Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Yilong County, Sichuan Province, among other leaders.

New sericulture households may report the mulberry height when it reaches approximately 0.7 meters; for established households, the first batch of silkworms in spring and autumn should be reported when the mulberry height is about 0.5 meters, while subsequent batches are reported at the time of silkworm delivery. Each rearing sheet requires 450–500 kilograms of mulberry leaves, and the period from reporting the mulberry height to receiving the silkworms is approximately 25 days.
